“Self-Obliteration”
Experimentation
Before the chosen work for her fictional exhibition was set in stone, I explored her entire history of work while watching documentaries and reading articles to ideate for multiple possibilities. The most common theme among her work seemed to be obscuring herself in infinite repetition, which is where the dots stem from.
Process
After shooting pictures of the Basch Gallery from multiple angles, I tweaked the perspective, cut out each piece of architecture, and made variations that shrouded both the building and text in dots, as Kusama does to herself in the short film “Self-Obliteration” the gallery would display.
